This is the third part of a series on Google Cloud Platform. Part III discusses GCP Cloud AI.
Artificial Intelligence (AI), the newest and most innovative technology in IT services, is available to customers through Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Google Cloud AI is a neural net-based machine learning technology that Google has developed for use with services such as image search and voice recognition. Google now makes these capabilities available to businesses. Google Cloud Platform Cloud AI provides a wide range of services and features to meet business needs. Here are five ways Cloud AI can help you improve your business.
1. TPU, Cloud AutoML or ML Engine can help you improve your internal development and innovation.
TPU, or Tensor Processing Unit, is currently in Beta and can be used in place or in addition of CPU or GPU processing for machine-learning. It was specifically designed for TensorFlow, Google’s open-source machine-learning platform. TPUs accelerate machine-learning and offer up to 180 teraflops and 30x more compute power than CPUs and GPUs. They also have 64 gigabytes each of memory and compute power.1 TPUs can be accessed instantly via the cloud, which allows you to access the necessary power to perform mission-critical machine-learning training processes. Lyft uses them to develop self driving cars. This requires large data sets.
Cloud AutoML is more flexible than TPUs and offers speed and power, but Cloud AutoML is accessible for inexperienced developers. It is a suite of services that developers can use to build high-quality machine-learning models using Google’s APIs. AutoML Vision is available at the moment, but there are more products in every major AI field. AutoML Vision allows customers the ability to train machines to better categorize products, making customer searches easier.
Google Machine Learning (ML Engine) is available to experienced ML developers. ML Engine is a managed service that allows you to bring machine learning models into production. It offers both prediction and training services. TensorFlow models can be supplied to the service to be trained for multiple scenarios. The prediction service uses the models to predict new data and takes them as training. This service can either generate online (real-time), or more affordable batch predictions.
2. Cloud Vision API and Cloud Video Intelligence API can improve image and video processing, identification, and identification
Cloud Vision API offers a variety of identification features that businesses can use. The API can identify objects and logos within images, allowing for more natural categorization. It can also detect explicit material, making it easier to remove objectionable content from web-based companies using Optical Character Recognition. It can also find similar images online, or detect faces and interpret expressions to give insight into customer mood. However, it does not provide facial recognition.
Cloud Video Intelligence API, a similar tool, allows you to search for and find videos by extracting metadata, identifying and cataloging video content without any machine-learning expertise. It allows users to identify the most relevant content and provides confidence levels for each item. It can locate objects in a whole video, a specific shot, or frame by frame. Businesses could use the API to identify inappropriate content that has been uploaded to websites and block or remove it. This API could also be used by media archives of any kind, academic or commercial, to speed up metadata processing and make it instantly available, while also saving time for employees.
3. DialogFlow and Natural Language API can improve communication between employees and customers.
